Kogi Central Senate: Natasha Akpoti Dares Opponents to Debate


Natasha Akpoti, candidate of the Social Democratic Party for Kogi Central Senatorial election has dared her opponents to jostle it out in a public debate. 



While an election debate has never taken place in the district before, Akpoti on Thursday posted the challenge on facebook, seeking reputable bodies to organize the debate. 

The major contenders for the seat include the incumbent Senator, Ahmed Ogembe of the People's Democratic Party; and the flagbearer of the ruling party, Oseni Yakubu. 

Whether or not they will throw their hats into the ring would be determined by the responses of these contenders to the challenge.

The presentation of staff of office to the new Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Owoniyi, Obaro Otitoleke Oweyomade 1 of Oweland holds next Saturday. Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello will perform the presentation to the monarch as the 44th Obaro of Kabba at the St. Augustine’s College field by 10 am. President-General of Kabba Development Union (KDU) and Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Engineer Emmanuel Ajibero assured that all arrangements are in place to ensure a hitch-free ceremony. SDP Suspends Kogi Chairman over Alleged Misconduct, Insubordination

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Friday suspended the Chairman of Kogi State Chapter of the party, Alhaji Abdullahi Amodu for alleged gross misconduct and insubordination. The letter of suspension signed by the National Secretary of the SDP, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam stated that the NWC has also directed the suspended chairman to relinquish the party’s office and its affairs to the state’s National Secretary, Bar. Paul Abraham who now assumes the position of acting chairman of the state chapter of the SDP, with immediate effect. According to the letter, the suspension became pertinent to give room for proper investigations of the alleged unbecoming attitudes of the former Kogi state SDP chairman which totally negates the core values of the party.
